Fifteen-year-old Connor McFarlane a North Berwick High School pupil has been selected to represent Scotland at the 2007 Four Nations Badminton Championships in the Cerebral Palsy section which takes place this week end at the Welsh Institute of Sport in Cardiff.
This will be Connor’s first competitive badminton tournament where he will compete in singles, men’s and mixed doubles.
In the build up to the Championships he has increased his on court training time and last week attended a two-day camp with East Lothian Development Badminton Squad at Meadowmill Sports Centre.
East Lothian Council’s Badminton Development Officer Christine Black’s first impression when coaching Connor was his fantastic attitude to work on his skills and fitness level and always striving to improve every aspect of his game.
She also commented that Connor is a good all-round athlete having already represented Scotland at football and now has the opportunity to a new challenge in badminton. He is so competitive in training with a great attribute to succeed and hopefully will enjoy the experience in Wales and reach the potential he has shown so far.
